Painted boat wood salvage on a wooden mooring post base. Carved in the form of a boat from salvaged boat timber. Retaining fragments of Mediterranean blue painted surfaces that have been exposed by the sea. The boat carries a cargo of Raku copper cable.

What is the compelling story that draws us to the beached boat, the tumbledown boat shed, the abandoned barn? These neglected and dilapidated structures were once the centre of someone’s work and life. Every part reflects each days labour, the problems solved, capturing the echoes of a hard life lived.
Our relationship with our maritime heritage inspire his works, constructed with marine fragments and focusing on water-centered sculpture and paintings. Exploring transitions and processes brought by the weather, sea, fire – erosion, exposure of the structure, the stripping down of layers to reveal grain and texture. Initially the works appear to have a form, this is not a representational response but a deeper and more emotional feeling of a traveller seeking safe haven.
